Gresford Architects
Tom founded Gresford Architects in 2006.
Having qualified in 2002 following his studies at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow and North London University, he worked for ECD Architects where he worked on large scale housing and masterplanning projects, and subsequently at Springett Mackay (now Matthew Springett Architects) where he worked on high end residential projects and arts projects.
Tom is passionate about sustainable building and believes that it provides a chance for architects to create new languages in building – to embrace the proven technologies that make buildings warm, self-sufficient and designed to last. He considers the environmental performance of a building to be of paramount importance and says;
‘…whether we are designing a simple extension, one-off suburban dwelling or a housing estate, we should be endeavouring to create architecture that expresses sustainability in an aesthetic for our times – one that shows we care about our planet, and want to make it more beautiful to boot.’
Tom is registered with the ARB, and is a chartered member of the RIBA. He is also a SPAB member and a Green Register accredited architect. Gresford Architects have been featured in Grand Designs, Dezeen, RIBA 125 years, BD Architects of the year 2018 finalists in the sustainability category.
We have had the wonderful pleasure of working with Tom and Gresford Architects for over 10 years on various projects, some of his beautiful creations can be seen below and in our portfolio.
