“My approach was to reimagine the layout as a series of open but defined spaces that spoke to each other and the garden beyond. A stepped ground-floor extension created four distinct zones for cooking, eating, relaxing and gathering, each one opening out onto the newly landscaped garden. Between them, a planted pergola softens the light and shields the interior spaces from the glare of the south-facing sun.”
